buddha niche

The display created for a delicate antique stone Buddha represents a pure integration of art, furniture and building. The display is complementary to the nature of the piece; the round niche recessed into the wall represents a sphere of enlightenment encircling the seated Buddha. The stand incorporates Arts and Crafts design references such as the cloud motif at the top of the stand, a design of Asian origin used in many works by the Greene brothers. The back and legs are inspired by the barrel chair designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. The subtly feminine stand is partially recessed into the wall and eloquently bridges the Eastern aesthetic of the statue with the craftsman character of the home.
